Betteshanger Band will be competing in the most prestigious brass band competition in the world: The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. On Sunday 15th September, the band will take to the stage at the Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse to compete against 17 other brass bands from around the UK, all of which are eager to claim the National 4th Section Brass Band Championship Title. For the past couple of months, MD Mike West has put a lot of time and effort into working on the detail of the Set Test Piece, “Smoke Sketches” by Daniel Hall. A piece written in three movements; Into The blaze, A Lonesome Ember and Spark of Light. A real test for Fourth Section Bands as well as for the Adjudicators, Stephanie Binns, David Hirst & Paul Holland who will have their work cut out finding that Bright Spark amongst the cinders! If yesterday’s rehearsal is anything to go by, we are well on the way and still have several more rehearsals for Mike to get the best out of the band. We would like to thank our Sponsors who have helped finance our trip to Cheltenham. Betteshanger Social Welfare Scheme, Bettes Bar, Deal & Walmer Handelian Choral Society, White Mill Veterinary Practice & Coastal Transport Group.
