The band is proud to announce the arrival of Solo Horn player, Chris Kirk (aka Captain Kirk). Chris brings a wealth of experience being an “old boy”, who was banding in the 70’s when everything was in black and white. He struggles to persuade his long-suffering wife that Brass Bands are the way forward.

In 2010 he joined Regent Brass on tenor horn where in 2013 the band won the championship section regional contest and went on to play at the Royal Albert Hall finals, something he did not ever think would happen in his playing career. (Vince and Mike wonder to this day how it ever happened….they are just jealous).
Chris and Mrs K moved to Thanet in 2014 where Chris states he is employed allegedly protecting the country’s borders and where Chris has played for the last nine years at the Medway Band. Nine years of much fun, memorable contests and concerts with great friends.
Chris joins Betteshanger band on Solo Horn having recovered from a serious illness this year. He hopes his experience and terrible joke-telling will help him to make new friends and still enjoy the hobby he has loved since he was 10 years old.
He’s still rubbish says Mrs K. who mutters something about silk purses and pigs ears.
